From the Pastor

Friends,

It is the middle of summer and the temperature is topping out at 106 degrees every afternoon! Many of us haven’t even taken our summer vacation yet, but it is already time for families with young children to prepare for Back-to-School, which means buying school supplies. When a family is on a tight budget and there are several children who need new shoes, new clothes, plus a backpack and school supplies, the expense can be unmanageable.

Two agencies have asked us to help provide school supplies for children in need. Presbyterian Childrens’ Home and Services hopes to provide back-to-school supplies for 44 children in their network of care, both here in Central Texas and across the state. More locally, LTLov provides back-to-school supplies for children in need in the Lake Travis Independent School District; we have encouraged our Hudson Bend neighbors to register with this organization.

For the next few weeks – between now and August 6 – you have the opportunity to contribute funds to this Back-to-school supply drive. All funds will be split between Presbyterian Children’s Home and Services and our local efforts. You may contribute by dropping a check in the collection plate on Sunday, marked ‘School Supplies,’ by enclosing cash in an envelope marked ‘School Supplies,’ or online by selecting the fund ‘School Supplies’ from the drop-down menu.

Our children and grandchildren will have everything they need to start school with hope and excitement. Let’s do what we can to help the children within our reach to start school the same way this year!

Peace,

Pastor Jack
