Friends,

Holy Week is finally here again! It is a week that takes us from the Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem, to the solemn observance of the Last Supper. Then it takes us through betrayal and then to the cross. It lingers in the sorrow and grief of death and then, at last, brings us to the Joy of Easter morning and the empty tomb! In my sermon this past Sunday I quoted Rev. Shelli Latham who said “This week, of all weeks, is made for embracing the tension of hoopla and horror. Christ is present in all of it.”

We will have three opportunities in the next four days to gather and worship, to sojourn through the sadness and into joy. On Thursday we will gather at 6:30 p.m. to remember the Last Supper and some of Jesus’ final words to his followers. Then on Friday we will gather at 1:00 p.m. to wait and watch, reflect and mourn, and rest in that sorrow for a time. Finally, on Easter Sunday, we will gather again and celebrate the hope of Resurrection.

I hope you will join me on this holy journey.

Peace,

Pastor Jack
