Dear Friends,

As we make our way through this final week of Advent towards Christmas Eve, I’ve been thinking about the Luke passage we heard this past Sunday.  I was reminded again of the hope that we find in our Christmas story.  This hope comes to us in our story, in this Gospel invitation.

The hope that we see in Gabriel and Mary and Elizabeth is not about wishful thinking for some far off event.  This hope comes to meet us here and now, God is with us, in our joys and celebrations, and even in our most painful moments.  This hope makes it possible to see God’s presence in the darkest times, to say “here I am” and “let it be” to God when it seems most impossible, to sing when it seems absurd, and to hope for God’s restoration and healing in a world that often seems hopeless.

As we travel through this last week of Advent together, the week of our longest night, may hope come to greet us, live in us, send us forth.

Christmas Blessings to you all,
Pastor Laura
